Well, we did enact laws and regulations in the 1930s to protect against it happening again. Which we proceeded to repeal in the 1990s because, after all, stuff like that doesn’t happen anymore, and all those pesky regulations like the Glass-Steagall act just get in the way of people making a shitload of money.
