This is simply false. The majority of American Jews are of Ashkenazi (East European) origin. But worldwide, there are black Jews from Ethiopia; North African Jews from Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya; Asian Jews from Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Yemen, India. More than half the Jews of Israel are of Sephardi (Mediterranean) or Mizrahi (Middle Eastern) descent. The idea that Jews are simply a subset of white Europeans is a misconception based on American, not worldwide realities.
