The first chapter of Kohelet (Ecclesiastes) in Hebrew is poetry of the most exalted sort:
מַה־שֶׁהָיָה הוּא שֶׁיִּהְיֶה, וּמַה־שֶׁנַּעֲשָׂה הוּא שֶׁיֵּעָשֶׂה, וְאֵין כָּל־חָדָשׁ תַּחַת הַשָּׁמֶשׁ.
Mah-she-hayah hu’ she-yihyeh, u-mah-she-na‘asah hu’ she-yei‘aseh, ve-’ein kol khadash takhat ha-shemesh.
That which has been is that which will be, and that which has been done is that which will be done, and there is nothing new under the Sun.
