Old joke: A man gets on the subway and sees, sitting across from him, an old black man with crutches and a glass eye, reading the Yiddish newspaper the Forverts, silently moving his lips and following along with his finger from right to left. Finally the man can’t contain his curiosity any longer, reaches over and touches the other man on the knee: “Excuse me, bist a Yid??” (“Are you a Jew?”) The man looks up, rolls his eyes, and says, “Oy, nokh dus feilt mir!” (“That’s all I need!”)

We shall not cease from exploration / And the end of all our exploring / Will be to arrive where we started / And know the place for the first time.
